Bio

Alex Martinez is an arts educator of 18 years and currently teaches at the Jersey City Arts High School.  He received his first formal art training with the Florence Academy of Art in 2023 wherein he received his Masters degree in Studio Art.  As an arts educator, his approach focuses on the process of classical drawing and painting techniques, artistic expression, portfolio development and providing a supportive skill-based artistic experience.  

Trained in atelier and realism, along with having a confounding love of the illustrative, Alex’s approach to his drawings and paintings centers around identity and remembrance with a veiled commentary on his personal experiences. Alex’s technical focus seeks to bridge the gap between the classical approaches to portraiture and the aesthetics of the contemporary visual language. 

currently, Alex creates in his home studio in West orange, NJ and  in between teaching classes.
